Building Bridges for Successful Migration

Germany relies on skilled immigration as a key to economic sustainability. International professionals bring valuable skills. At the same time, migration remains at the heart of social and political debates. The project “Pre-Integration and Transition Management – Ensuring a Successful Migration Process” demonstrates what successful management of this process can look like.

Integration begins in the country of origin

How do people prepare for life in a completely new country? The Goethe-Institut provides comprehensive support: personal counseling, intercultural preparation, and virtual reality experiences help ease the transition into a new life. It’s not just about practical information or language skills, but also about raising awareness of cultural differences and learning how to deal with discrimination.

"Germany needs people like me"

The shortage of skilled workers in the care sector is severe – people like Victor Santiago from Brazil are part of the solution. His journey took him from Brazil to nursing training in Germany. In our interview, he shares his experiences of starting out in Germany, his first encounter with snow, his love for sparkling water – and the feeling of truly being needed.

Resilience and Culture

The Goethe-Institut positions itself in a new world order – an article by Secretary General Johannes Ebert in "Politik und Kultur", the newspaper of the German Cultural Council.

Coming to Germany for qualification

18-year-old Alberto Gámez from Venezuela is at the start of his working life but already knows that he wants his career to take him to Germany. He told us what he likes about the working world in Germany and how the programme “Dual education mobility South America” (DAMOS) supported him on his journey to Germany.

That's a class

More and more people in Sub-Saharan Africa want to learn German with African-European textbooks which are not full of cliches and are up to date from a methodology and didactic point of view. “Und jetzt WIR” makes that possible.
